Full Balayage

Finished full balayage with graduated dimensional blonde, back view, full balayage, at Scott Farmer Hair Salon in Venice FL

Quick answer

What is full balayage?

Full balayage is hand-painted, sun-kissed color worked through the whole head and processed at room temperature for a soft, blended grow-out. It runs $265 and about 3 to 4 hours in my Venice, FL suite, glaze included.

How I paint your balayage

A true full balayage is hand-painted and processed at room temperature. That is what gives you the soft, beachy, sun-kissed result with no hard line as it grows out. It also means I cannot lift the hair to its absolute lightest potential, because there is no foil and no heat driving the lift. If your goal is the brightest possible blonde, I will tell you that up front and steer you to a foilyage instead, which adds foils to push the lift further.

The place most salons get this service wrong is the blend. Done in a hurry, it comes out streaky or brassy. I work one client at a time in a private suite, so I am not rushing between three chairs. Shape and balance is the key to a great haircut, and the same eye applies to color. I read your base, your old color, and your porosity first, then place every painted section so the brightness makes sense for your hair, not just on appointment day.

Is balayage right for you?

Balayage is not the right fit for everybody, and I would rather tell you that than sell you the wrong service. It is probably not for you if you want an even, root-to-end blonde, if your hair lives in a ponytail most days, or if it is already fragile and over-processed. The goal is never just pretty color. It is color that actually works for your hair and your life. When it does fit, about 70% of the balayage clients in my chair choose a full balayage over a partial, because it gives the most dimension and the most even sun-kissed brightness across the whole head.

Balayage price and timing in Venice, FL

ServicePriceTimeRefresh
Full balayage$2653 to 4 hours2x a year
Partial balayagefrom $2102 to 2.5 hours3 to 6 months
Gloss / toner refreshfrom $80about 1 hourevery 6 weeks

Every appointment includes the Schwarzkopf glaze that locks your tone. In the Florida sun I recommend a gloss or toner refresh about every 6 weeks to keep the tone from going brassy between visits.

How long does balayage last in Florida?

A full balayage holds 3 to 6 months before you need a partial to refresh the brightest pieces, and most of my clients come in about twice a year. The bigger variable in Venice is the sun. Saltwater and Gulf sun pull tone faster here than in a dry climate, so the glaze is what protects your investment between visits.

5 ways to protect your balayage in the Florida sun

  1. Book a gloss or toner refresh about every 6 weeks. It resets the tone without re-lifting.
  2. Use a sulfate-free, color-safe shampoo that is gentle on your hair and scalp.
  3. Add a purple shampoo weekly if you are cool blonde, to fight the warm pull from the sun.
  4. Rinse after the beach or pool and use a UV protectant. Salt and chlorine dull painted blonde fast.
  5. Do not stretch a full balayage past 6 months. A timely partial keeps the cost and the condition in check.

Balayage FAQ

How much is a full balayage in Venice, FL?

It is $265 in my Venice, FL suite, including the Schwarzkopf glaze, and takes about 3 to 4 hours. The price is set at your consultation based on length and density, and written down before any product goes on.

What is the difference between balayage and foilyage?

Balayage is hand-painted and processed at room temperature for a soft, natural result, but it will not lift to the very lightest blonde. A foilyage adds foils to push the lift further, so it is the better choice when you want maximum brightness.

How long does a full balayage last?

3 to 6 months before a partial refresh. Most clients come in about twice a year, with a gloss every 6 weeks in between to hold the tone.

Will it damage my hair?

Not in my chair. Every lift uses a Schwarzkopf bond-builder. If your hair is already fragile or over-processed, I will tell you honestly and plan a gentler path first.

Is a full worth it over a partial?

If you want the most even, all-over sun-kissed brightness, yes. About 70% of my balayage clients choose full for that reason. If you only want brightness around the face, a partial saves time and money.
