What should I expect at my first appointment with Scott Farmer?

Your first appointment at Scott Farmer Hair Salon in Venice FL starts with the Pre-Cut Read, my five-point consultation: density, growth pattern, porosity, lifestyle fit, and color history. I do that read before I touch the scissors or mix a single bowl. You will see a written plan and a firm price before any service begins. Suite 139 inside Phenix Salon Suites at 555 S Tamiami Trl. Free parking on site. By appointment only, Monday through Friday. Call or text (941) 599-4868 if anything is unclear before you book.

New client guide, Venice FL

You are not booking a salon. You are booking me, for the time it takes to do your hair right.

I am Scott Farmer. 30 years behind the chair, 15,000+ clients, Schwarzkopf Professional colorist, Master Cosmetologist. I run one chair in a private suite at 555 S Tamiami Trl, Suite 139, Venice FL. One client at a time. Every appointment starts with what I call The Pre-Cut Read. Three minutes of looking saves six weeks of fixing.

Before

Send me a few photos

Text me current photos of your hair plus one to three goal photos. (941) 599-4868. I will tell you which service to book and roughly what to expect on price before you ever sit down.

Arrive

Free parking, Suite 139

Pull into the Phenix Salon Suites lot at 555 S Tamiami Trl, Venice. Free parking right at the door. Walk in the main entrance, turn left, follow the numbered suites to 139. Take a breath. I will be ready.

Plan

The Pre-Cut Read first

Before scissors or color, I run the five-point read. You see a written plan and a price. Nothing happens until you say go.

Your new client hair salon Venice FL prep: what to do before your first appointment

1. Send photos. Text current-state photos of your hair plus one to three goal photos to (941) 599-4868. Natural light, no filter. The photos tell me what your hair is doing now and where you want it to go. Half of my new-client consultation work happens before the appointment because of this.

2. Tell me the truth about past color. Box dye three years ago, an old keratin treatment, lightener at another salon, drugstore toner you used last summer. None of it is judgment. All of it changes the safest plan. If a color from a different stylist did not turn out, bring the name of the product if you have it, or the receipt, or the salon name. I am not going to ask twice.

3. Protect the time. If you are doing a haircut, plan for 60 to 75 minutes. Color or highlights, 2 to 3 hours. Color correction, 2.5 to 5 hours and sometimes a multi-visit plan. By-appointment means you get the time the work actually needs, not a rushed slot squeezed between two other clients.

How do I find Suite 139 at Phenix Salon Suites?

Scott Farmer Hair Salon is inside Phenix Salon Suites at 555 S Tamiami Trl, Venice FL 34285. The complex sits on the east side of Tamiami Trail (US-41) about a mile north of the Venice Avenue intersection. Free parking right at the building. No metered lot, no garage to navigate.

Walk in the main glass entrance. You will see a fountain in the lobby. My suite (139) is the first room on the right, just past the fountain. The door has my name on it. Walk in. Coffee or water is on me.

If GPS gets confused (it sometimes routes to a side entrance), look for the large “Phenix Salon Suites” sign on Tamiami, then aim for the front of the building. Or call (941) 599-4868 and I will talk you in.

What happens during the Pre-Cut Read?

Every appointment in my chair starts with the same five-point read. Most stylists call this “the consultation.” I called mine something specific because I do it the same way every time, and I have been refining the five points for 30 years, from my JScott Salon years to now.

1. Density read. How much hair you have, where it concentrates, where it thins. Density decides how much weight comes out and where.

2. Growth pattern read. Cowlicks, part lines, hairline behavior, the swirl at the crown. Growth pattern decides where sections start and how the cut shape moves between visits.

3. Porosity read. How your hair accepts and releases moisture and pigment. Porosity decides product choice, color formulation, and bond-builder needs.

4. Lifestyle fit read. Your real morning routine, your humidity exposure, your boat days, your gym schedule. Lifestyle decides whether the cut has to work in five minutes or whether it can lean editorial.

5. History read. Recent color, chemical treatments, what your previous stylist did, what is sitting on the hair shaft right now. Color history decides whether one session is safe or whether we need a plan.

By the end of those 15 to 20 minutes you will know exactly what I am doing, what it will cost, and roughly how long it will take. If anything in the read tells me the original plan is wrong for your hair, I will say so. The Pre-Cut Read is documented in full on the Pre-Cut Read page.

Here is the deal. Most first-time bookings go cleaner when the right service is on the calendar from the start. If you are not sure which row you are in, text a photo to (941) 599-4868 before you book.

How much will my first appointment cost?

Every service price on the booking page is the price I run. No surprise upcharges at checkout. If a service moves into multi-session territory (most often color correction or a big blonding plan), the full plan and the per-visit price get written down at the consultation before any product moves. Schwarzkopf Professional only. Bond-builder built into every lift service. Glaze included with all balayage and highlight work.

Tipping is appreciated but not expected. Cards and Apple Pay welcome.

After your appointment

I will send you home with two things: clear at-home product guidance for your specific result, and a rough visit-cycle window so you know when to rebook. Most color clients rebook every 8 to 14 weeks. Cuts run 6 to 8 weeks for shorter shapes, 10 to 12 weeks for longer lived-in styles.

About four hours after your appointment I will text you to make sure everything looked right once you got home and styled it. If something is off, I would rather hear about it the same day than weeks later.

What is your cancellation policy?

Life happens. If you need to reschedule, please give me 24 hours notice if possible so I can offer the slot to the next client. Same-day cancellations and no-shows make a one-chair salon hard to run, so I do track them. Two no-shows or two same-day cancellations and I will ask you to prepay future appointments.

First appointment FAQ

Do I need to come in for a consultation before I book?
For most services, no. Book the closest service from the table above and we will run the Pre-Cut Read at the start of your appointment. For color corrections, big blonding goals from a dark base, or if you are not sure which service fits, a free consultation first is the smarter move. Text (941) 599-4868.

What color line do you use?
Schwarzkopf Professional, custom-mixed for your hair. I trained with Schwarzkopf and chose their line specifically for tone precision and integrity on lifted hair. Bond-builder is built into every lift service.

Do you take walk-ins?
No. By appointment only. I work one-on-one with one client at a time so the appointment you book is the full attention you get. Call or text (941) 599-4868 to check for the closest available slot.

What should I bring to my first appointment?
Photos of your current hair in natural light. One to three goal photos. Any product names or receipts from recent color services at other salons. Time. Do not bring kids, partners, or friends who will try to redirect the plan halfway through.

Where exactly do I park?
Free lot at 555 S Tamiami Trl, Venice FL 34285. Pull into the Phenix Salon Suites lot, park anywhere. Walk in the main glass entrance, turn left, follow numbered suites to 139.

What if I am running late?
Call or text (941) 599-4868 as soon as you know. If you are more than 15 minutes late and the appointment after yours is booked, I may need to shorten the service or reschedule. I would rather know early than scramble at the chair.

How do I rebook?
The cleanest way is to book your next appointment before you walk out. Square Appointments holds the slot on the spot. If you prefer to think about it, text (941) 599-4868 when you are ready.
